My friend has been trying to find a new perfume lately. It got me thinking about how perfumes and other scents have a way of defining your character and explaining where you are in life. A few weeks ago, I wrote about how I was exhausted and found myself a bit lost with too many things taking control of my mind. Sometimes we reveal the most when are lost and the least like ourselves.
Scents are very important to me. I've always had a love affair with Serge Lutens, Frederic Malle, and Le Labo perfumes. They are all distinctive in their flavor and very unique, but I just ordered Bois d’Ascese by Naomi Goodsir after coming back to it at The Line this past weekend in Los Angeles. It’s smoky, transient, and unisex, which I love. I couldn’t stay away any longer; I felt it represented this particular time in my life and this ‘time’ deserved its own scent.
If you haven’t seen what I’ve been busy working on for the past few months, don’t worry; I will continue to recap it in each of my posts, since they are currently my favorite things on my blog. Here is my latest City Guide for Milan, as I will be heading there tomorrow. As mentioned in prior posts, I am about to go on holiday to Italy and the South of France. It starts with the wedding celebration of my dear friends W & J in Florence. I try not to miss any of my close friends weddings. It’s such a magical thing to be apart of.
I acknowledge that some experiences are surreal and I acknowledge that we’re living in such a strange and materialistic time where living out of suitcases and seeking out-of-the-box experiences are considered normal. It all feels a little surreal to be honest. But to me, it will never feel normal to be able to experience travels like this, so thank you to my friends who provide me with the opportunity and reason to hop on a plane.
My best friend Bethany captured these photos at the end of 2015. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to post them. She takes most of my photos in New York and we love being able to capture such special moments together. My good friend Sarah takes most of my photos on trips. For the past few years, we went away multiple times a year on kiteboarding trips to exotic locales with MaiTai Global. Sarah is meeting me in Milan after the wedding and we have an incredible few weeks planned of us touring around Europe. Being able to work with such talented friends is quite the treat.
As most of you know, I started my journey by owning physical retail stores and creating products that I loved. Then transitioned into the digital realm with my fashion blog, which has quickly evolved to include all of my travels, my lifestyle, and a really true and honest representation of who I am. I'm really happy to get back into the swing of things here and I can’t wait to hear all about your travels; if you are in Italy or France the next few weeks, please tag me in your photos, so I can find you. See you in Florence!
