If Emily and I had our own clothing stores* we would call them "Forever Chic". This is the first time Emily and I have been on a trip to France together, and in particular, a trip to Paris. Paris... the place (and time of year) that my blog started in 2014. The place that stole my heart and my life and made me forever tied to this city, country, culture, cuisine and couture! It's crazy to think that we were both 'American Girls in Paris' at the same time, but didn't know each other. Come to think of it, I could have really used more friends, yet alone, American girlfriends that spoke English (and terrible French) and loved to shop, eat, and talk super loud in cafes like we Americans tend to do.
Paris this time of year is kind of perfect. The weather is past rain season and right before the sun gets too hot to manage and after all the kids gets out of school for summer holiday and before the city becomes infested with fashions elite for Couture week. It's quiet, calm, and you can just enjoy Paris for its original beauty. There is usually great exhibitions in the museums and the sun doesn’t set until after 10pm, so you literally try and spend every bleeding moment in the evening time outdoors.
I found it only fitting that one on our first official day running around Paris together that my outfit be some sort of French combination, so I brought with me some pieces that are just waiting for a time and place to be worn. My silk tee-shirt and jacket were both vintage Emanuel Ungaro that have contrasting prints, but look so chic when placed together print-on-print and like most Parisians do, I had a pair of great fitting vintage jeans and my simple white tennis shoes.
*We all know that I used to, in fact, own my own clothing stores, so let's just say that 'Forever Chic' is my new, coming-of-age creation
