I have been buying antiques since forever. I am always on the hunt for unusual pieces & designs, so I've really been enjoying my recent work trips to Austin, because it's a town that supports antiques and has a vast collection of quality vintage. Austin reminds me a lot of Portland; another place that I was able to spend some time for work a few years ago. Part of this consulting project I was on in Portland, in a nutshell, required me to survey the area, gauge shopping behavior and understand the competition in the local market, so I got to spent a great deal of time shopping around and looking at all the wonderful shops and local design stores.
I was gifted this necklace when I was recently in Austin from a gal who told me she loved my eyebrows. Not kidding. We ran into one another in a cafe, while we both were waiting for our press juices to get made and we exchanged smiles. I then spotted her epic necklace and told her how I just loved it and she told me I just had the best eyebrows she has ever seen and because my eyebrows were just so great, I have since made her day. Then she stared at me again and smiled and took off her necklace and said,
"You love this necklace and I love your eyebrows. This necklace belongs with you; I wish I could take your eyebrows, but then the necklace wouldn't look so good anymore. Enjoy."
Then she disappeared with her juice into thin air, never to be seen again. It was actually more like, she grabbed her juice and walked away, but the theatrics make the fact that some random stranger gave me her necklace even better. Fucking love wonderful strangers. Even more so, I met a gal at the Lululemon store in San Marcos that told me that I was so hilarious that I should be a stand up comedian. Making friends wherever I go...
