"The cancer of time is eating us away. Our heroes have killed themselves, or are killing themselves. The hero, then, is not Time but Timelessness." - Henry Miller, Tropic of Cancer
For what it's worth, I happen to adore playing dress up. It reminds me of past times and somewhat being an iconoclast, but one with very good taste. I enjoy slipping on frocks that were once my grandmother's and adding in a layer of modernism that creates this seductive appeal. I've been wanting to shoot this editorial for a while now. It's somewhat dominatrix in a sense, but moreso, a daring, subtle provocative look that really does allow for this wonderful part of my personality to shine through. Isn't it lovely how a moment of truth can provoke such sudden ardor.
I was driving in Los Angeles a few weeks ago with two friends of mine, both of higher than normal intelligence and two of the more interesting characters I've ever encountered in my life. They are both extremely dynamic and inspiring with their passions. We got into a conversation about how they have both been on this self-discovery journey as of late and how they are really coming into their own skins. They had mentioned to me how they felt so happy that they we're able to just be themselves around me the past few days and hearing this, I became a bundle of joy. There is nothing more that I love, than when people are just being themselves. The original, the creative, the quirky, the opinionated, the beautiful humans that make up who you are. So I challenge you- forget about competition, jealousy, greed, envy, judgement and just be you. I'm sure you'll be surprised at how many people will dig your originality and actually how much more inspiring you will be to others.
